The View hosts are very passionate about their opinions. However, some viewers think one host crossed the line when things got physical. Sara Haines defended slapping her 70-year-old co-host, Whoopi Goldberg, during a recent episode. Keep reading to find out her explanation for the incident.
The View Fans Beg Hosts To Stop Talking About Trump
President Trump and his policies are a popular topic for media outlets, both in print and on television. The View is reportedly under investigation for its commentary about the current administration. Politics has always been discussed on the ABC talk show. However, nearly every “Hot Topics” segment lately has been dedicated to a news story about Trump and his policies.

Several of the hosts are Republicans or right-leaning, but the majority of The View hosts do not support President Trump. Even his former staffer, Alyssa Farah Griffin, has turned against him after resigning her post in 2020.
One fan of the daytime talk show took to Reddit to express their frustration with so much talk about President Trump.
- “I think I have Trump fatigue in general but multiple topics every day being about him and what someone around him did for the day has become exhausting to listen to.”
Several other viewers chimed in with their agreement.
- “I dont really mind the Trump admin coverage. Its what they decide to cover that’s tiring.”
- “I honestly wonder what else they would talk about if not for him. It’s just lazy at this point.”
- “I don’t want to stick my head in the sand, but unless there is something major that happened, I don’t need to hear how terrible they are every single day.”
- “We need more episodes like the weekend view, light and fun!”
Despite viewer fatigue, the daytime talk show likely won’t stop talking about President Trump until his term ends.

Sara Haines Defends Slapping Whoopi Goldberg, 70
Whoopi Goldberg is usually the one to step in to break up arguments between her co-hosts. The moderator, 70, found herself at the receiving end of an incident involving Sara Haines.
Justin Theroux and Kate Hudson were on The View in April to promote Season 2 of their Netflix series Running Point. At one point in the interview, Sara Haines tapped Whoopi Goldberg on the arm. The moderator playfully slapped her back, prompting Justin Theroux to ask why they were hitting each other.
The View executive producer Brian Teta broke in to tell the hosts to stop acting like children. However, they continued to slap each other on the arm.
Sara Haines broke her silence about the incident on a recent episode of the show’s Behind the Table podcast. She insisted that the hits were just “love taps.”
The View host claimed that she’s a “feeler” and physically expresses her excitement of sitting next to “Icon” Whoopi Goldberg. She assured listeners that it was all in good fun. Share your reaction to the slaps in the comments.
