The Tony Awards Renew With CBS Ahead of 80th Anniversary

The Tony Awards, which have aired on CBS continuously since 1978, are staying put, at least through 2032.

This makes the Tonys the most stable EGOT-level awards show in terms of its relationship with its broadcast partner. The Grammys, which aired on CBS from 1973 to 2026, are moving to ABC, Hulu and Disney+ beginning with the February 2027 show. The Primetime Emmys, which have aired on a rotation basis on Fox, ABC, CBS and NBC since 1995, are shifting to Prime Video in 2027. The Oscars, which have aired on ABC since 1976, will begin streaming on YouTube in 2029.

“We are thrilled to extend our long-standing partnership with CBS,” Heather Hitchens, president and CEO of the American Theatre Wing, and Jason Laks, president of The Broadway League, said in a joint statement. “For the past 48 years, we have collaborated with CBS to bring the best of Broadway to theatre fans all around the world and we look forward to marking the 80th anniversary of the Tony Awards with our best show yet.”

“CBS has a celebrated history of supporting the creative arts on television and the Tony Awards are a cornerstone of that past, present and future,” said Amy Reisenbach, president, CBS Entertainment. “George Cheeks and I are thrilled to extend the network’s 48-year partnership with the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League and showcase the extraordinary talent, unforgettable performances and incomparable energy of Broadway to viewers across the country for years to come.”

The 80th Annual Tony Awards will broadcast live to both coasts on CBS and stream on Paramount+ (Premium) in the U.S. on Sunday, June 13, 2027.

Raj Kapoor, Sarah Levine Hall and Jack Sussman are set return to produce the 2027 Tony Awards. Kapoor and Levine Hall will serve as co-showrunners, while Patrick Menton and Rob Paine will co-executive produce, with Menton also serving as head of talent.

Kapoor is also an executive producer of the Grammys and the Oscars.

P!nk hosted the 2026 Tonys, becoming the biggest pop star ever to host Broadway’s Biggest Night. The Tonys have not yet announced who will host the 2027 show.

Schmigadoon! won best musical on the 2026 Tonys. Ragtime won best revival of a musical. The show also featured performances from three landmark musicals celebrating anniversaries: The Book of Mormon (15th), Rent (30th) and A Chorus Line (50th).
