Star Trek: Strange New Worlds fans are in for a treat as Season 4 unveils a bold stylistic choice for its upcoming episodes. The show has recently offered the first look into the much-awaited fourth episode, inspired by Old Hollywood noir movies.
This week’s episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4, titled “A Case of Chiaroscuro,” will be entirely in black-and-white. The stills released from Episode 4 tease a striking visual with bold contrast, reminiscent of 1940s noir movies. The episode arrives on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
What to expect from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4’s noir-inspired episode?
According to the episode’s official synopsis, “A Case of Chiaroscuro” will see Una being mistaken for a virtuous kingpin amid a Klingon occupation. Stills from the episode feature several intriguing moments, giving fans a taste of what’s in store. The bold noir style further enhances the suspenseful and dramatic atmosphere.
One photo shows Rebecca Romijn as Una with a pensive look, while another captures Anson Mount at the USS Enterprise’s controls as Captain Pike. A third still shows Una and Dr M’Benga, played by Babs Olusanmokun, in black leather overcoats and top hats, an outfit that pays homage to the dark and moody vibes of classic Hollywood noirs. Several other photos feature the characters in a moody setting, having a conversation at a bar.
The fourth season of the genre-bending Star Trek: Strange New Worlds features episodic installments that explore different styles and tones. The series has also teased a puppet episode for the season.
Season 4 of Strange New Worlds will feature 10 episodes, with the season finale arriving on September 24. Last year, Paramount+ renewed the series for a fifth and final season.
