The wait is almost over.
Sony has unleashed the second trailer for Zach Cregger‘s Resident Evil, offering fans their best look yet at what appears to be a relentless, game-inspired survival horror experience. As we’ve previously reported here at Dread Central, Cregger’s goal wasn’t to retell one of the games, but to capture the feeling of playing them… the panic, the tension, and the constant fight to survive.
The new trailer spends more time introducing Austin Abrams‘ Bryan, the medical courier who finds himself caught in the middle of Raccoon City’s nightmare. We watch as he has his first terrifying encounter with one of the infected, scrambles to find whatever weapons he can, and slowly realizes he’s completely unequipped for the nightmare unfolding around him.
Along the way, longtime fans will spot plenty of subtle Resident Evil nods, while newcomers get a clear sense of the film’s grounded, survival-focused approach.
One of the trailer’s standout moments comes when Bryan is pressed against a wall before the camera pulls back to reveal he’s perched atop the remains of a crumbling building, a striking visual that feels ripped straight from the games. Elsewhere, the footage teases gallons of blood, glimpses of horrifying creatures, and just enough mayhem without giving away too much.
It’s a relatively restrained trailer, but it absolutely delivers the goods.
