I’ve never met someone who dislikes Denzel Washington. And I hope such a person doesn’t exist. The actor has an unmatched level of appeal. In fact, he may be the most beloved thespian of our time. Washington has won countless awards and captured the hearts of millions throughout his decades-long career.
Given the actor’s unrivaled popularity, we like to keep our readers informed when one of his films within our beat lands on a streaming platform. On that note, we are pleased to report that the 2010 thriller Unstoppable is now available via HBO’s Max.
The film features a dynamite cast.
In addition to Washington, the picture’s impressive casting roster includes the likes of Chris Pine, Rosario Dawson, Ethan Suplee, Kevin Dunn, and Kevin Corrigan.
The late, great Tony Scott (True Romance) was at the helm of this action-packed thriller. He directed from a script penned by Mark Bomback (Live Free or Die Hard).
Although it was a box office success and a hit with critics, the film had a troubled journey to the screen. Unstoppable began life as Runaway Train in 2004. After cycling through several directors, the flick finally emerged from development hell in 2009.
Upon release in 201o, the feature pulled in $167,805,466 at the global box office against an estimated budget of $100 million. Moreover, the picture impressed critics so much that it is now ‘certified fresh’ on Rotten Tomatoes. If you’ve yet to experience this high-octane thriller, head over to Max and see what you’ve been missing.
The setup for this Denzel Washington thriller goes like this:
When a massive, unmanned locomotive roars out of control, the threat is more ominous than just a derailment. The train is laden with toxic chemicals, and an accident would decimate human life and cause an environmental disaster. The only hope of bringing the train to a safe stop is in the hands of a veteran engineer (Washington) and a young conductor (Pine), who must risk their lives to save those in the runaway’s path. Inspired by true events.
