“I don’t want to heal… I want to find my son. I just had this feeling… that he was still out there. Jason!” 😱 A24 presents a new horror series based on the iconic slasher franchise – Crystal Lake, a prequel series to Friday the 13th, following a doomed small town where camp counselors come to die. This is the “origin story” showing us what happened when it all began. Peacock will air the 8 episodes of this chilling series for streaming starting in October – obviously during horror season. It is a prequel to the original 1980 film that kicked off the franchise. Starring Linda Cardellini in the main role as Pamela Voorhees, Callum Vinson as a young Jason Voorhees, along with William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, Phoenix Parnevik, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom. They went back & filmed at Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco in Blairstown, New Jersey, the exact same camp location and town used in the 1980 original film – really connecting it all back to the first Friday the 13th. After a grand total of 11 sequels in the F13 Jason series so far, do we really need to make a whole prequel? As a series? This is premiering at TIFF this month before it’s out in the fall. That said, this footage does look legit. It’s better than expected–filled with plenty of slasher terror to enjoy.

A prequel to the Friday the 13th horror franchise about the slasher killer Jason, the series follows single mother Pam Voorhees who has been unable to shake her grief after her young, sickly son Jason tragically drowned in the town lake almost a year before. When two strangers arrive at Pam’s door digging into her past, a disturbing chain of events are set into motion, leaving the townspeople of Crystal Lake wondering: just who is Pam Voorhees? Crystal Lake is a prequel series created and written and showrun by TV writer / producer Brad Caleb Kane, of “Fringe”, “Black Sails”, Extinction, The Banker, “Warrror”, “Tokyo Voice”, “It: Welcome to Derry“. Featuring episodes directed by Logan George, Celine Held, Michael Lennox, Quyen Tran. Made by A24 for Sky and Peacock. It’s executive produced by Brad Caleb Kane, Victor Miller, Marc Toberoff, Robert M. Barsamian & Robert P. Barsamian, Stuart Manashil, Michael Lennox, Tyson Bidner. Peacock will debut the Crystal Lake series streaming starting on October 15th, 2026 this fall. Any good?
