    Out today from Blumhouse is a genuinely scary original new film. Not a remake, sequel, reboot or some unnatural combination, The Black Phone is true blue old-school horror at its finest. Based on a terrifying short story by the master of fear Joe Hill, this brutal and intimate serial killer setup is sure to get a response from audiences this summer.

    To celebrate today’s release of The Black Phone, we sat down with its director Scott Derrickson (dir. Sinister, Doctor Strange). We get into the gritty details about his new film, what movies scare him the most, and if he believes in ghosts. Spoiler alert, he does.
