Days after announcing a highly anticipated 4K UHD Blu-ray release for Jet Li’s Romeo Must Die, Toy Robot Video is giving physical media enthusiasts and action fans even more to celebrate. The boutique distributor is dropping a stellar physical collection for Cradle 2 the Grave, the explosive third entry in producer Joel Silver’s unofficial, thematic trilogy of early-2000s hip-hop martial arts thrillers.
Completing the Unofficial Trilogy (Almost)
Wait a minute! If Romeo Must Die is the first entry, and Cradle 2 the Grave is the grand finale… where’s Exit Wounds?
The Missing Link: Will Exit Wounds Get the 4K Treatment?
While there’s still no official confirmation on whether Toy Robot Video will give the Steven Seagal and DMX hit an upgraded release down the line, physical media fans remain hopeful. Given the label’s obvious love for this specific action subgenre, an eventual Exit Wounds 4K Blu-ray drop feels almost inevitable—completing the holy trinity of Silver and director Andrzej Bartkowiak’s high-octane run.
Until then, the upcoming 4K UHD presentation of Cradle 2 the Grave sounds absolutely sweet.
Black Diamonds, Big Beats, and High-Octane Action
In Cradle 2 the Grave, Silver and Bartkowiak—who perfected their slick blend of Hong Kong-style martial arts and top-charting hip-hop culture in Romeo and Exit Wounds—cranked the volume to the maximum. International martial arts legend Jet Li (The One) and hip-hop icon DMX join forces as rivals-turned-partners thrown into a high-stakes urban war triggered by a kidnapping, rare black diamonds, and a sadistic crime boss played by Mark Dacascos (John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum).
Beyond its gold-certified hardcore soundtrack and legendary fight choreography, the film features a stacked ensemble cast, including Kelly Hu (The Scorpion King), Gabrielle Union (Bad Boys II), Anthony Anderson (Hustle & Flow), and Tom Arnold (True Lies).
