Sydney Sweeney Sparks Controversy With ‘Good Genes’ Ad, More
Sydney Sweeney’s breakout role was on HBO’sEuphoria. Her career took off at a rapid pace. American Eagle debuted a commercial starring the actress in 2025. The ad immediately went viral for allegedly promoting white supremacy by having the white, blue-eyed actress talking about her “good genes.” The commercial included a pun about good genes/jeans. Sydney Sweeney denied the ad was related to white supremacy.

The outrage had barely died down when she starred in another controversial advertisement. This one was for the sports betting app Novig. Sydney Sweeney posed nearly nude with only various sports equipment. People complained that the ad aired during times when children were watching. The actress responded by sharing photos of athletes who posed nude in ESPN magazine’s The Body Issue.
Now, Sydney Sweeney is facing backlash for another sexy ad showing off her assets.
Actress Under Fire For Racy ‘Cindy Lou Who’ Photo Shoot
Sydney Sweeney launched the lingerie brand, Syrn, earlier this year. The brand had a “Do What Makes You Naked” collection in March. The actress starred in a new promo for the upcoming holidays. She referenced two popular Christmas characters in the ad –Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmasand Cindy Lou Who, the little girl who helps The Grinch find his heart in Dr. Seuss’s classic 1957 holiday book How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Sydney Sweeney was called out on Syrn’s Instagram for sexualizing the fictional children’s book character.
- “idk if sexualizing children’s movies is a good move”
- “Can someone pls tell me why a 30 year old woman is acting like a child?”
- “Cindy lou is a child come on”
- “Are you okay? Like seriously”
- “Dressing up as a child character in lingerie is definitely a choice”
- “Cindy Lou Who is 7 btw”
- “That’s just not normal, Cindy is barely 12 years old in the film”
- “Cindy lou was 7. This is giving ghislaine maxwell vibes”
Sydney Sweeney didn’t respond to the backlash. However, a lot of comments defended the actress cosplaying as Cindy Lou Who. The character was actually a toddler in the original book but was portrayed as 6 years old when Taylor Momsen played Cindy Lou Who in the 2000 live-action film Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
