Many tuned in to coverage across the country as the results of the 2026 midterm election came through. One such outlet was a livestream hosted by NBC News personality Steven Kornacki. However, things took a turn with him walking off the set, ending the stream a few hours earlier.
Steven Kornacki Walked Off Around 10 Hours Into His 13-Hour Set Kornacki Cam Livestream
Kornacki is a political journalist and television presenter. To many, he is best known as a national political correspondent for NBC News.
Kornacki has led the network’s analysis of voting results for Election Day in the United States from 2014 to 2024. Recently, he also covered the 2026 midterm elections on his Kornacki Cam livestream.

However, just over ten hours into his coverage, Kornacki walked off the set. This brought an abrupt end to the live broadcast, which was set to last 13 hours.
At around 3:26 AM on November 4, Kornacki turned to the cameras and expressed, “Okay, folks, we’re going to keep it on. I am going to take one more break. I just need to take about five minutes here, but I’ll be right back.” However, the camera turned to the studio for a while before cutting off.
Many Commenters Assured Kornacki That They Would Continue To Watch His Future Livestreams
Since then, however, Kornacki turned to X to explain what had happened. At the time, he alluded to being too exhausted and having underestimated the time the livestream would take.
As Kornacki shared, “I was sure 13 hours would be fine, but things caught up to me in a hurry at hour 10. I can’t say thanks enough to all of you. What a ride and I think we did make livestream history. Sorry for the abrupt ending!”
With Kornacki’s recent share, followers shared their reactions. Many shared that they understood the situation. A few even expressed the hope that this wouldn’t dissuade him from further election coverage. Some comments included:
- “The All-Steve format was way better than trying to watch straight NBC. Do it again next time.”
- “You were great, Steve. Enjoyed seeing you at work. And another reaction to the files.”
- “Hi, election official here. I clocked in 21 hours. But I did get potty breaks. Mad respect to Steve, but just know most poll workers worked longer than 13 hours. And the worst part of it? We don’t get to watch Steve! We’re in the eye of the storm and have little idea what’s happening out there!”
