Joy Behar said recently that she’s tired of talking about President Trump. But The View again dedicated nearly an entire “Hot Topics” segment to the President’s actions. During the discussion, Joy Behar said that she’s “embarrassed” for America during the current administration. Keep reading to find out why.
The View Addresses Larry David’s Harsh Criticism Of President Trump
Many celebrities have spoken out against President Trump’s policies since his second term began in 2025. Curb Your Enthusiasm creator Larry David was the latest Hollywood star to blast the President. Larry David took issue with the decision to host a UFC fight on the White House lawn on Trump’s 80th birthday. “It was a travesty. What else can you say about it? It was embarrassing. I was embarrassed to be an American,” Larry David said when asked about the event.
The View hosts addressed Larry David’s comment on the Friday, June 26, episode. “There’s so many countries where if you said something like that about being embarrassed by the country, you would end up dead…. That’s what makes America America. Because we’re secure about freedom, because we believe in freedom,” Ana Navarro said.
Sara Haines weighed in, “Trump is here for eight years out of 250 that’s a blip in time, and I refuse to hand over my patriotism, my pride of this country, because even the global community knows that Americans are not happy.”
Joy Behar Says She’s ‘Embarrassed’ For America
The UFC fight marked the start of Trump’s plans to celebrate America turning 250. Joy Behar said at the start of Friday’s discussion that she’s close friends with Larry David and didn’t want to criticize his comments. Later in the discussion, she agreed with him.
“I have to say that I’m embarrassed for this country, the way he’s been treating immigrants. He’s been separating kids from their families. My family came here like 100 years ago, the Italians came here. Italian Americans are some of the most patriotic people in the country, and one of the reasons is because they came from poverty in Southern Italy, and came here, and they were like, ‘America, God bless America.’ And now he treats immigrants the way he treats them.”
Joy Behar added that “we should all be” embarrassed for our country with Trump in charge. Alyssa Farah Griffin chimed in to clarify that her co-host was embarrassed by the President, not by America.
