Amazon Prime Video’s new TV and movie releases for the week of July 13 to July 19, 2026, include The Amateur and Ride or Die.
On July 15, The Amateur arrives on the streaming platform. Directed by James Hawes, the action thriller is based on the 1981 novel by Robert Littell. It follows a CIA decoder, Heller, whose life turns upside down after his wife is killed in a London terrorist attack. The film opened to mixed reviews from critics, with a 6.5/10 rating on IMDb and 61% on Rotten Tomatoes. The star cast features Rami Malek, Laurence Fishburne, Rachel Brosnahan, Caitríona Balfe, Michael Stuhlbarg, and many others in key roles.
Also coming to Prime Video is an action-adventure comedy series, Ride or Die. It focuses on best friends Debbie Claybourne and Judith Burton, who claim to know each other well until the latter is revealed to be an assassin. However, things go wrong when a mysterious enemy shows up. The series features Octavia Spencer, Hannah Waddingham, Bill Nighy, and Ed Skrein, among others, in key roles.
Spencer and Waddingham also shared their reactions with PEOPLE after hearing the pitch of the show. “I did the thing you’re not supposed to do, I got married on the first date. It was such an amazing pitch.” Spencer said. She continued, “I’ve heard hundreds of pitches throughout my career and none like that one. It just had you spellbound, on the edge of your seat.” The 56-year-old further added that she loved the show being centered around women.
Meanwhile, Waddingham’s jaw dropped at the email saying, “Octavia Spencer and Tessa Coates would like to get on a Zoom call with you.” She added, “To play this character opposite Octavia is getting a dream role.”
