Tubi Expands its Canadian Content Library with Over 200 New Movies from Major Studios

    Date:

In a move to bolster its video-on-demand offerings for Canadian viewers, Tubi, the free ad-supported streaming service owned by Fox Corporation, has announced the addition of over 200 new movies to its expansive library. This substantial content expansion comes through newly executed licensing deals with global entertainment powerhouses NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Discovery.

The influx of new titles spans a diverse range of genres and fan-favorite franchises, providing Tubi’s Canadian audience with an even more robust and compelling content selection. From blockbuster action movies and classic comedies to thrilling dramas and beloved family films, this content injection solidifies Tubi’s position as a leading destination for diverse and high-quality streaming entertainment in the Great White North.

“The growth of Tubi’s film library allows viewers to go deep into the movies they love and complements the increasingly diverse mix of premium content that we offer Canadian viewers,” said Sam Harowitz, VP of Content Acquisition and Partnerships at Tubi. “Over the past month, Tubi has announced that hotly-anticipated TV series such as BBC’s BOARDERS, ITV’s thriller DEAD HOT, and Fremantle’s BIG MOOD, will be exclusively available on the platform in Canada. We are dedicated to partnering with industry leading content providers who have the breadth and scale of movies and series that appeal to our diverse viewers.”

From the NBCUniversal library, Tubi viewers in Canada can now enjoy titles such as the chilling thriller “The Girl on the Train,” the acclaimed drama “8 Mile,” and the sci-fi classic “Dune” (1984). Additionally, the platform will soon welcome fan-favorite franchises like “Halloween,” “Back to the Future,” “Despicable Me,” “Jurassic Park,” “The Mummy,” and “Fast & Furious.”

The Sony Pictures Entertainment collection on Tubi includes beloved comedies like “As Good as It Gets” and “The Whole Nine Yards,” as well as action-packed thrillers such as “Salt” and “S.W.A.T.” (2003). Upcoming additions from the Sony library include “21 Jump Street,” “Hancock,” “Step Brothers,” and “Fury.”

Warner Bros. Discovery’s contribution to Tubi’s Canadian content lineup features classics like “Assassins,” “Demolition Man,” and “Constantine,” as well as the popular “Blade” film series. Tubi users can also look forward to the arrival of “Final Destination,” “American History X,” “Central Intelligence,” and “Cloud Atlas” in the near future.

“Audiences have become increasingly sophisticated in their expectations around the content they consume on streaming services,” said David Salmon, Executive Vice President and Managing Director, International, at Tubi. “We are thrilled to be able to add even more blockbuster content for our users to enjoy in Canada. We know users are looking for choice, personalization, and great value, and we believe Tubi is market-leading in all three. These content deals, with our amazing studio partners, allow us to continue to delight our fast-growing Canadian user base.”

The expansion of Tubi’s Canadian content library comes at a time when viewers are seeking greater choice, personalization, and value in their streaming experiences. By partnering with industry-leading studios, Tubi is positioning itself as a premier destination for a diverse array of high-quality movies, complementing its growing selection of exclusive TV series and delivering on its promise to provide Canadian audiences with an unparalleled streaming experience.
