Chilling New Thriller “Speak No Evil” Arrives in Theaters This September

    Date:

From the producer of hit horror films like Get Out and The Purge comes a new intense psychological thriller from Blumhouse Productions that looks primed to be one of the most disturbing cinematic experiences of the year. Speak No Evil stars James McAvoy as a charming but sinister British estate owner who lures an unsuspecting American family into what they initially believe to be the vacation of their dreams.

The film follows Ben and Louise Dalton, played by Scoot McNairy and Mackenzie Davis, as they accept an offer that seems too good to be true – a weekend invitation to the idyllic country home of Paddy (McAvoy) and his wife Ciara. At first, the couple and their young daughter Agnes are swept up by their hosts’ hospitality. Paddy and Ciara appear to be the perfect couple, gorgeous home and all. But this dream vacation is too good to last.

Soon, strange occurrences and bizarre behavior from their hosts hint that something is deeply unhinged. What began as a luxurious getaway morphs into a disturbing trip from hell as the Daltons realize this family is not what they seem. The eerie trailer teases the deeply unsettling situations they find themselves trapped in, with McAvoy once again showcasing his masterful ability to inhabit psychologically twisted characters through his chilling performance as the menacing Paddy.

Rounding out the cast is Alix West Lefler as Agnes and Dan Hough playing Paddy and Ciara’s mysterious mute son Ant. Speak No Evil is directed by James Watkins, who previously helmed the gothic horror film The Woman in Black.

With its premise reeking of dread and descent into psychological terror, Speak No Evil looks primed to be one of the most unsettling theatrical experiences of the year for horror fans. Mark your calendars now, because you won’t want to miss this gripping psychological thriller when it arrives exclusively in theaters on Friday, September 13, 2024.

In the world of modern horror, one production company reigns supreme – Blumhouse. Founded by Jason Blum in 2000, this powerhouse studio has become synonymous with some of the biggest and most successful horror franchises of the 21st century.

Blumhouse’s formula is simple, yet highly effective. They produce low-budget films – typically under $10 million – that pack a major punch. By keeping costs down, the studio is able to take more risks and experiment with fresh, innovative ideas in the genre. And the results speak for themselves.

From the breakout success of the “Paranormal Activity” series to the reinvention of “Halloween” and the creepy thrills of “Get Out,” Blumhouse has delivered one hit after another. Their films routinely exceed box office expectations, often earning hundreds of millions more than their modest budgets.

But Blumhouse’s influence extends far beyond the financial realm. The studio has also become known for championing diverse voices and perspectives in horror. Films like “The Purge,” “Happy Death Day,” and “M3GAN” have tackled social issues and gender dynamics in thoughtful, genre-bending ways.

And Blumhouse shows no signs of slowing down. With a packed slate of upcoming releases, including the highly anticipated “Speak No Evil,” the studio continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in modern horror. Whether you’re a lifelong fright fan or a casual moviegoer, one thing is certain – you’ll be seeing the Blumhouse logo on some of the most thrilling and innovative horror films for years to come.
