The latest edition to the cinematic universe of 2022’s M3GAN has been announced: SOULM8TE, an erotic sci-fi thriller due in January 2026 via Universal.
Directed by Kate Dolan (You Are Not My Mother), SOULM8TE is being developed by James Wan’s Atomic Monster and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse, and will expand on the world that M3GAN was set in. Plot-wise, it will follow a man who acquires an AI lovebot after the death of his wife, only for it to become a deadly menace.
Speaking about the new movie in a statement, Dolan said, “Fundamentally, I view this film as an exploration of relationships and loneliness. Despite technological advances, there are enduring human truths we cannot escape, and I am looking forward to delving into those depths.”
SOULM8TE isn’t the only new addition to the M3GAN universe. In January 2023, a sequel titled M3GAN 2.0 was announced, which was fast-tracked and currently has a June 27th, 2025, release date.
