“Some images will never leave my mind.” 😈 Monument Releasing has unveiled their official trailer for the documentary film titled Realm of Satan, now set for US release in theaters exclusively this summer. With a small art house run beginning in Philadelphia, of all places, at PhilaMOCA. Realm of Satan premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival a few years back. The film explores the Church of Satan, a 50-year-old religion celebrating individualism and carnal desires. It offers a glimpse into modern Satanists’ daily lives and rituals, showcasing their devotion to Satan as a symbolic figure. “A singular portrait depicting Satanists in both the every day and the extraordinary Realm of Satan is a ritualistic documentary that casts a spell on viewers, luring them into a mystical world of magic, mystery, and misanthropy.” The film marks the feature directorial debut of film editor Scott Cummings, and it contains near perfectly composed cinematography by DP Gerald Kerkletz showing us a slice of the life of these Satanist people. The film is almost a satire, playing up the absurdity of all religions and their worshipers – which really aren’t so different than this one… Enjoy.
Here’s the offiical trailer (+ poster) for Scott Cummings’ doc film Realm of Satan, found via TFS:
An experiential portrait depicting Satanists in both the everyday and in the extraordinary as they fight to preserve their lifestyle: magic, mystery, and misanthropy. Director Scott Cummings’ “unique approach is to work in collaboration with sinister subcultures to conjure up video portraits that express a vision of their personal existence. As Cummings works in lockstep with cinematographer Gerald Kerkletz, each shot is its own small treasure to explore, whether fantastical, explicit, mundane, or all of the above. Realm of Satan’s acceptance in an unreality sets itself on an anarchistic path through expressions of identity and image-making that nobly fights all forms of tradition.” Realm of Satan is a documentary film directed by indie filmmaker Scott Cummings, making his feature directorial debut after many other shorts previously. He also edited the films Never Rarely Sometimes Always, Monsters and Men, Wendy. Produced by Caitlin Mae Burke, Pacho Velez, Molly Gandour. Monument Releasing will debut Cummings’ doc Realm of Satan in select US theaters starting July 17th, 2025 this summer. For more info, visit their official site. Intrigued?
