Seth MacFarlane’s foul-mouthed teddy bear, Ted, is making its way to Peacock with a spinoff series. The upcoming show recently wrapped up its production and will soon start streaming on the NBCUniversal streaming service. The series serves as a prequel to the 2012 movie of the same name which marked MacFarlane’s directorial debut. So, when does the series premiere on Peacock? Keep reading to find out the details!

Ted Creator Seth MacFarlane Will Voice The Titular Character

The showrunner recently confirmed the conclusion of the series production on Peacock with the titular bear. He took to Instagram and shared a picture of the bear from the series and captioned the post, “That’s a wrap on ‘Ted’! A big thanks to our brilliant cast @fat_kookaburra @scottchristophergrimes @alannaubach @giorgia_whigham and our stellar crew! Get ready, the bear is back. @peacocktv”

The prequel series is set in the 1990s and trails Ted’s journey as he works his way up to the point where we meet him at the start of the first movie. Moreover, MacFarlane will write, direct, and serve as executive producer for all the episodes of the Ted series. He is also joined by Brad Walsh and Paul Corrigan as executive producers and writers. The creator will also serve as Ted’s voice alongside other characters that include:

  • Max Burkholder as John Bennett
  • Alanna Ubach as Susan Bennett
  • Scott Grimes as Matty Bennett
  • Giorgia Whigham as Blaire

When Does Peacock’s Ted Series Premiere?

Seth MacFarlane is a popular creator in the TV industry who has helmed several popular animated sitcoms like The Cleveland Show, American Dad, and Family Guy. He has also created the live-action Star Trek spoof, The Orville. With years of experience under his belt, the creator is bringing Ted to the small screen.

The story is about the time when John was an adolescent growing up in Boston while the bear was just coming to life. So, Walhberg and his co-star Mila Kunis won’t be a part of the show. As of now, there is no official release date for the series.

Will Ted TV Series Be Renewed For A Second Season?

MacFarlane is also known for creating R-rated and raunchy tales. He recently confirmed that the series won’t dial back on the same which is why it’s premiering on Peacock as opposed to other TV channels. As per ComicBook, the debut season will have a total of eight episodes and there is no update on whether it will be renewed.

The Peacock series’ official synopsis reads:

“It’s 1993 and Ted the bear’s moment of fame has passed, leaving him living with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett, who lives in a working-class Boston home with his parents and cousin. Ted may not be the best influence on John, but when it comes right down to it, Ted’s willing to go out on a limb to help his friend and his family.”
