A television sports reporter and her husband were found dead in their Hoover apartment. A young child was also found at the residence. The Hoover police have also shared a statement on what happened. Since the news has come out, other figures who knew the reporter have also shared statements.
The Reporter & Her Spouse Were 38 & 41 At The Time Of Their Deaths, Respectively
The sports reporter worked for WBRC. She had reportedly joined the television station in 2015.
The TV journalist reportedly left the station in July 2021 to work as a local high school. However, she returned to serve as a freelancer during the 2025 football season. In addition, she also anchored at WAKA in Montgomery, Alabama, and at WLTZ.

According to a press release shared by Hoover police on Facebook, it was announced that the reporter, identified as Christina Chambers, was found dead in her Hoover home. She was alongside her deceased husband, Johnny Rimes.
Chambers was 38 at the time of her death, and Rimes was 41. Both appeared to have endured gunshot wounds.
A Young Child Was Also Found In The Residence At The Time
The couple’s three-year-old child was also found inside the Alabama home at the time. However, there was no evidence of the child suffering any physical harm.
In a statement, the Hoover Police shared, ” Hoover Police believe the deaths to be the result of a murder/suicide. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to this tragic incident in conjunction with the Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office who will make the final determination on cause and manner of death. No further information will be released until the conclusion of the investigation.”
According to Entertainment Weekly, Chambers’ former co-worker, WBRC anchor Jeh Jeh Pruitt, shared a statement following the tragic news. Pruitt shared, “She was one of the sweetest, most loving people that I know.
Alabama Sen. Katie Boyd Britt Also Shared A Statement
The statement continued, “She was relentless with running, loving her son, and loving life. I am glad I got a chance to hug and tell her I love her a week ago at the Super 7. I am so sorry for her family, the Chambers and Thompson Families, and her WBRC Family.”
On X, Alabama Sen. Katie Boyd Britt also dubbed the news “tragic.” In a statement, it was shared, “I’m also praying for the entire @WBRCnews team as they mourn the loss of a former colleague and friend.”

As noted, Chambers also had a background in education. The Alabaster City Schools also issued a statement following the news. As it read, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of our former employee, Christina Chambers. Christina worked for Alabaster City Schools as the director of our Broadcasting Academy. In this role, she led THS TV, sharing her extensive television experience with our students. Christina also used her talents on the sidelines, with live reporting for the Warrior Nation Network on many Friday nights. Our thoughts and prayers are with Christina’s family and all of those impacted by this tragic loss.”
