Country singer Thomas Rhett opened up about an ongoing medical crisis. The heartbreaking health issue comes just weeks ahead of his wife’s due date for the birth of their fifth child. Keep reading to find out what’s going on.
Thomas Rhett Expecting Fifth Child With Wife
Thomas Rhett met his wife, Lauren Akins, in elementary school. They both grew up in Tennessee and dated when they were teenagers. They remained close friends after their brief romantic relationship. The former couple reconnected in 2011 and married a year later while in their early 20s.
The couple shares four children: Lillie Carolina, 4, Lennon Love, 6, Ada James, 8, and Willa Gray, 10. They’re expecting baby number five in March. Thomas Rhett and his wife were recently on the That Sounds Fun podcast. The country singer opened up about becoming a father again.
“I don’t want to discount the fact that it’s a huge miracle, and it’s a gift. But also, to be completely honest I haven’t thought about it a lot because there’s so much happening,” he said. The family has faced some difficult losses, in addition to Thomas Rhett’s ongoing medical crisis, which he opened up about.
Country Music Superstar Reveals Ongoing Medical Crisis
Thomas Rhett dedicated his 2024 album, About A Woman, to his wife. However, his music career is possibly in jeopardy after a shocking health crisis.
“I’m kind of going deaf in this ear a little bit. I had to go get hearing aids as a 35-year-old man,” he revealed on the podcast. Hearing loss is incredibly common as we age, but 35 is still pretty young to experience hearing loss.
But the country singer didn’t like what he was hearing after using hearing aids. He revealed that he wore them for a week before giving up. Thomas Rhett found that the noise was too much, even asking his wife if that’s what she, with normal hearing, has to hear all day.
The country singer didn’t share any other details about his hearing loss, including any treatments he’s considering. Thomas Rhett isn’t the only musician to experience moderate or profound hearing loss. Huey Lewis retired from touring in 2018 after losing most of his hearing. Paul Simon retired for the same reason, but has since returned to the stage.
