Hold onto your hats, mob fans — Paramount+ just dropped a megaton bomb of good news.
NOLA King, the highly anticipated spinoff of Taylor Sheridan’s smash hit Tulsa King, is officially happening, and it’s bringing two living legends together for the first time on the small screen.
That’s right: Sylvester Stallone and Samuel L. Jackson are teaming up, and the first photo from the series proves it’s going to be as iconic as it sounds.

Not only is this Jackson’s first-ever lead role in a television series, but he’ll also be introduced as Russell Lee Washington Jr. during Tulsa King Season 3, which drops this September.
And from there? The Big Easy becomes the next big battleground in Sheridan’s ever-expanding gritty crimeverse.
What’s NOLA King About?

Jackson plays Russell Lee Washington Jr., a former federal inmate who once shared prison time — and maybe a few secrets — with Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi.
When the New York-based Renzetti crime family sends him to Tulsa with one job — take Dwight out — Washington gets a front-row seat to everything his old friend built. Instead of pulling the trigger, he gets inspired.
Now he’s heading back to his hometown of New Orleans, ready to rebuild old relationships and reassert control over the city he left behind 40 years ago.
Of course, that means clashing with enemies from his past — and ticking off his former bosses, who aren’t thrilled to see him rewriting his own story.
From Mob Boss to Mob Franchise

“Tulsa King was the #1 global Paramount+ original in 2024,” Paramount+ reminds us, and NOLA King is primed to build on that momentum.
According to Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount Global, “Samuel L. Jackson brings unparalleled presence and global appeal… supercharging one of Paramount+’s flagship series.” Not a bad way to launch a franchise.
Even Stallone is all in. “Chris McCarthy came to me with a game-changing idea: to elevate my show beyond a mob boss series, creating a dynamic, family-driven franchise,” he said. “Sam Jackson is the only choice to anchor this new adventure in NOLA.”
Meanwhile, executive producer David Glasser added, “The success of this show has now led us to another icon. I cannot wait to see what Sam brings to this world.”
Why This Matters

With Tulsa King, Stallone proved that old-school charisma still runs the game. Now, with Samuel L. Jackson stepping in, the energy is about to hit a whole new level.
If Tulsa King gave us a mob story with a cowboy twist, NOLA King promises to bring the heat, the history, and the haunting charm of New Orleans into the mix.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for Russell’s debut when Tulsa King Season 3 premieres in September on Paramount+, and you can bet we’ll be there when NOLA King takes the crown.
