The hit Hulu series Only Murders In The Building Season 4 promises to be star-studded. The mystery series starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez are back as podcaster-sleuths Charles, Oliver, and Mabel. However, a Grey’s star will not be returning.

Grey’s Alum Jesse Williams Not Returning To Only Murders In The Building Season 4
On Monday, Jesse Williams spoke to People about whether he would be back for Only Murders In The Building Season 4. His surprising answer was, “No, I’m not on that show anymore.” Why was this surprising?
Season 3 of the Hulu series had several major guest stars including Meryl Streep as Loretta Durkin, and Paul Rudd, who portrayed Ben Glenroy. Jesse Williams portrayed Tobert. Ben hired Tobert to film him in his Broadway debut in the musical Death Rattle.
During Season 3, the trio of podcasters found themselves at odds with each other. Part of this was due to romances blooming between Oliver and Loretta, as well as Mabel and Tobert.
Williams reflected on this relationship. “We built something that created a nice parallel to these two characters we are playing that are just meeting each other, feeling each other out, and trying to find common ground.”
However, this romance was short-lived as he was headed back to Los Angeles. He had an indie film to make. Mabel was not ready to leave the Arconia but hinted that she could head West to hang out with him some more.
That opportunity presented itself as Hollywood was calling. They wanted to film a movie about the podcast. Therefore, they were LA-bound. However, this news does not seem promising for the Mabel and Tobert relationship to bloom.
Series Co-Creator Hoped Jesse Williams Would Return For Season 4
As recently as February, Only Murders In The Building co-creator John Hoffman spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about Jesse Williams and Meryl Streep returning. “I love them both, Jesse and Meryl, everyone.” He added that he “would bring everyone back, and that might happen.” However, only Streep made it back on the script for Season 4.
Yet, instead of Williams, there is a cornucopia of stars that will be part of this new season. This includes Eva Longoria, Eugene Levy, and Zach Galifianakis. In addition, Melissa McCarthy, Molly Shannon, Kumail Nanjiani, Richard Kind, Desmin Borges, Siena Werber, and Lilian Rebelo are also part of this new season.
