The TV Host Took To Instagram To Share ‘Very Sad News’

The presenter has had a long career in television, starting out in the 1980s. Since then, they’ve gotten a number of series under their belt.

In addition, fans have also been following them on social media. Recently, the star used the platform to share tragic news with fans.

Lorraine Kelly is a Scottish television personality known for presenting various shows for ITV and STV. These include Good Morning Britain and This Morning.

Starting in 2010, Kelly has also been the host of her own namesake breakfast television series, Lorraine. This series focuses on a variety of topics, from show business to health and food.

Recently, Kelly took to Instagram to share that she had recently lost her father, John. As she wrote, “Very sad news. My dad has died.”

The presenter noted that her father had been in poor health prior to his death. However, she shared that she still felt what had happened came as a “shock.”

Various Figures In The Media Have Also Shared Their Condolences With Lorraine Kelly’s Recent Share

Kelly continued, discussing her family during this time. She shared, “Any of you who have experienced a similar loss will know how my brother Graham and I are feeling.”

Kelly continued, “Our priority is taking care of my mum and the family would very much appreciate privacy at this distressing time.” She then concluded the post, sharing, “We will miss you dad.”

According to The Daily Mail, John worked as a television service engineer. He was known for having passed on his love of science, especially astronomy, to his daughter. He was also married to Lorraine’s mother, Anne, for more than 65 years.

Since Kelly’s recent share, various figures have also taken to the comments to share their condolences. Celebrity chef and television personality Nigella Lawson wrote, “I’m so sorry for your loss, and tremendous pain. Sending so much love.” Actress and comedian Dawn French also wrote, “Love wrapped around you.”

Sports presenter Gabby Logan also shared, “Oh Lorraine, I am so sorry.” Notably, Gabby had recently lost her father, former footballer Terry Yorath, this week, on January 8, 2026.
