The custody battle on Days of Our Lives over Thomas and Charlotte has never been fair or necessary, and so far, all it’s accomplished is making Jennifer seem hateful.
I’m afraid to hope that’ll change any time soon, since most stories seem to have at least three false endings before they finally wrap up.
But Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 1-19-26 suggest that there’s an off-ramp for Jennifer, if she wants to take it.

The Custody Hearing Takes a Toll on Thomas
Thomas’ anger at Chad clouded Jennifer’s judgment before.
In her mind, Thomas’ psychological well-being was being threatened by Chad’s relationship with Cat, and taking him away was the best way to protect him.
There are about a billion problems with that, of course, starting with this way-overdone soap trope of children dictating who their parents can date.
But that’s beside the point right now — as is the fact that nobody seems to care that Charlotte is attached to Chad and will be devastated if she’s taken away from him.

Thomas himself finally admits the real psychological costs of this battle this week.
Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 1-19-27 include Thomas telling Chad that he feels like everyone is mad because of him.
Jennifer’s ridiculous decision to demand custody began with Thomas asking to live with her instead of Chad, so logically, she should respect the fact that he wants everyone to stop fighting.

Plus, this custody battle is clearly hurting him, and that alone should be enough to make Jennifer think twice.
It remains to be seen if that’ll really happen or if the writers will keep ruining Jennifer’s character.

The spoiler video promises at least one session, though it’s not clear whether it’s before or after Thomas tells Chad how he feels.
The mediator asks Chad to go first. He’s supposed to explain his thoughts on how to resolve this conflict.
Of course, there is no real way to resolve it — the kids can’t be in two places at once, so the only idea Chad could possibly come up with is some sort of agreement where they go to Boston during school holidays.
Hopefully, the agreement doesn’t include that Chad has no contact with Cat. That’s ridiculous and has no place in this custody proceeding since Cat is not abusive or dangerous to the children.

This is Salem, though — the only place in the universe where “I don’t like my son-in-law’s girlfriend” is a valid reason to file for a change of custody.
Chad and Jennifer have been down this road before, too, so logically, Jennifer should cool it if she doesn’t want Chad to cut her out of her grandchildren’s lives, but the previous custody battle seems to have been forgotten.
Meanwhile, Chanel and Johnny Prepare for a Drama-Filled Christening
I’m surprised it’s happening so soon.
Are you looking forward to this christening?

I figured “tonight” would last a few weeks, making Javi’s departure seem less urgent.

Predictably, though, this will be the most awkward christening ever because Javi is on the outs with Leo, and Leo will try to patch things up before Javi disappears.
Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 1-19-27 say that Leo will try to get Javi to stay in Salem.
That’s not realistic, given that Javi’s father is having quadruple bypass surgery and Javi already promised his relatives that he would head back to Texas for the foreseeable future.
However, I hope that Leo and Javi do make up and head off to Texas together.
I suspect that this plot point is a vehicle for exchanging actors — Al Calderon left Days of Our Lives to co-star on Brilliant Minds Season 2, but that doesn’t mean I want Leo left to pine for Javi while Dmitri tries to win him back.

Sadly, that’s probably exactly what’s going to happen, since that’s the more typical soap plot.
Plus, it would probably be way too rushed if Leo and Javi made up now, almost as if the writers knew they had to finish the story so that Javi could leave Salem.
Still, this entire mess is so contrived that I wouldn’t care if the conflict suddenly disappeared.
Leo already made up his mind before Dmitri even re-entered his life.
He wants to be with Javi despite lingering feelings for Dmitri, which is a shockingly mature decision for Leo.

But Javi refuses to accept that, and because he keeps trying to force a non-existent conflict onto Leo, everyone is taking sides, and half of Salem is also trying to convince Leo that he really wants Dmitri.
This needs to stop. The sooner the better.
Let’s hope that when Javi comes back (presumably) with a new face, he also has a new attitude toward this, so that he and Leo can get remarried and move on with their lives.
The Cops Suspect Jeremy Of Stalking, So He’s Probably Innocent
Although there have been some exceptions, most of the time, the first person the cops think committed a crime is completely innocent.

I’d love that to be the case this time.
While I don’t condone what Jeremy did to Stephanie 20 years ago, and I wish his transformation had been on-screen, I don’t like this idea that he has to pay for his past crimes by being presumed guilty until proven innocent now.
The evidence the cops had earlier was very flimsy — mostly that the stalker is left-handed, that Jeremy can write with his left hand, and that Stephanie doesn’t trust him.
Everyone has been so obnoxious toward Jeremy that it would suck if they were right, but the good news is that so far, all the clues feel more like red herrings.
Every time the stalker has been on-screen, his face has been cut off or obscured, and he often dresses like Jeremy — but that is an easy way to fool people.

And Jeremy’s staring at the engagement photo of Stephanie and Alex is neither here nor there.
He could be jealous or disappointed without being a stalker.
There are a few more Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 1-19-27, including Kristen and Brady clashing, Sarah giving an update on Marlena’s medical condition, and Sophia coming face-to-face with Holly.
