Rod Dyrdek secures five-year deal with MTV

Back in November 2022, MTV fans everywhere grumbled when Rob Dyrdek signed a five-year deal with MTV for more seasons of Ridiculousness. Rob often co-hosts the show with Chanel West Coast and Sterling Brim. Despite the viewers’ complaints over the series, MTV wants to continue the franchise.

Ridiculousness is a clip-based show in the same vein as America’s Funniest Videos, which still airs on ABC. The short videos allow the panel to share their reaction with the viewers. This type of format became a success for the network and provides them with plenty of content to rely on — especially with the success of YouTube and TikTok.

It first aired in 2011 and has been one of the few shows that managed to keep MTV afloat. The network airs the content from the series throughout the day. Rob has maintained his relationship with MTV and Paramount. Earlier this year, the show filmed up to 336 episodes. During his interview on Logan Paul’s podcast, Rob shared about his love for filming the show.

“It’s like a weird improv form for me. But, make no mistake… it is only for the money,” he admitted, as quoted by NewsBreak.

Chanel West Coast parts ways with Ridiculousness

Apparently, Chanel West Coast isn’t in it for the money. She announced that she’s leaving Ridiculousness after 30 seasons. The rapper has a new venture in the works. The reality star, whose real name is Chelsea Chanel Dudley, will develop her own unscripted series with MTV Entertainment Studios.

“After years of being a part of the ‘Ridiculousness’ family, I’m sad to say goodbye to the show but very excited to announce my next big venture with MTVE/Paramount,” Chanel West Coast said in a statement with Variety. “It’s time for me to step off the red couch and step into the role of executive producer. My passion has always been to create, whether it is music, clothing, or film and tv.”‘

It’s time for the entertainer to focus on her own interests. She always wanted to have her own production company and empire. Chanel is leaving the series to make those dreams a reality. She has been busy teasing her future projects on Instagram. The television personality also has her own clothing line and swimsuit line.
