Whoa. The Sheriff behind Nancy Guthrie‘s case is at risk of being replaced!
For nearly two months now, Savannah Guthrie‘s 84-year-old mother has been missing after she vanished from her home in Tucson, Arizona. Frustration had been building since the first week of the investigation amid continued complaints that the Sheriff has mishandled the case. His supposedly large ego has been called into question, and he’s been accused of withholding information from the FBI. It’s all been very messy, and incredibly disappointing as the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has turned up few answers in this high-profile case.

And now, all that drama could be coming back to bite him! Republican congressional candidate Daniel Butierez is now going after his job!
Butierez told the New York Post on Tuesday that he’s launched a recall campaign over the Sheriff’s handling of the case, claiming Nanos “has been an embarrassment to Tucson and to Pima County with this Nancy Guthrie case.” He argued:
“Everyone’s pretty disgusted, Democrats and Republicans.”
According to him, police in Pima County “had a unanimous vote of no confidence” in Nanos on Friday. OMG! Deputies also revealed to him that they wanted to start the recall campaign but were “afraid of repercussions from Sheriff Nanos.” So, the politician is taking the matter into his own hands and has officially begun the process of getting Nanos recalled! He began collecting signatures to remove Nanos last Thursday, and he now has 120 days to collect 120,000 signatures.
This comes amid some other very serious trouble for the law enforcer! The Board of Supervisors is set to discuss his employment history on March 24 after it was revealed he allegedly LIED under oath!
Back in December, Nanos sat for a sworn deposition when he was asked if he’d ever been suspended during his law enforcement career. He answered no. But records from his time in El Paso show he was suspended EIGHT different times as a young officer. Damn!
Officials are taking this seriously, Pima County Supervisor Matt Heinz told Arizona Republic:
“When you see something this troubling and serious going on with one of the county officeholders, it’s very, very important for us to investigate as fully as possible and to find out more information.”
He added:
“This man has been living a fraud for the past 43 years in Pima County. I would like to see him removed.”
Holy s**t!!
Separately, Nanos is also facing a $1.35 million lawsuit from an inmate at the Pima County Jail. So, he’s got a lot on his plate right now!
As for how he feels about these recall efforts, he told 13 News on Tuesday:
“We’re aware of the recall, and it’s the right of the people. We’ll always honor the will of the people, and that’s what makes Democracy.”
Crazy! We’ll have to wait and see what happens! Think they’ll be able to collect enough signatures??
Man, we just can’t imagine how Savannah and the family must feel knowing they might have such a controversial person in charge of finding their mom!
Thoughts?? Sound OFF in the comments!
