Ryan Reynolds seemingly poked fun at Blake Lively‘s legal battle again this week!
While sitting on a panel at Stagwell‘s Sport Beach event at Cannes Lions 2025, per Page Six on Wednesday, the Deadpool star went to give a water bottle to an audience member amid the hot weather. But rather than toss it over, he teased:
“I’m not throwing this. I’ve been around lawyers. You can walk up here and grab it.”
LOLz!!!
He’s got enough legal trouble to deal with. He doesn’t need another lawsuit!

This, of course, seems to be a reference to his wife’s ongoing suit against Justin Baldoni. His awkward comment comes after Ryan and Blake were handed a win in the case, Justin’s countersuit was dropped, but also a more recent loss — the director was just allowed access to Blake’s texts with Taylor Swift about the It Ends With Us production, something that’ll surely bring an end to that friendship.
The legal war has been going on for months now. So when Ryan says he’s been around lawyers, he means it! But the actor has often been criticized for seemingly making light of the serious court case, making this joke all the more controversial.
