Rapper T-Hood has died. He was 33.
T-Hood (real name Tevin Hood) was shot and killed on Friday, August 8, following a domestic dispute outside a residence in Georgia, according to a statement from local police.
âThe Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating a shooting at a residence that resulted in the death of one man,â a press release shared via X early on Saturday, August 9, read. âAt approximately 7:00 p.m., officers assigned to the South Precinct were dispatched to a residence in the 3900 block of Lee Rd in unincorporated Snellville. The caller reported that a dispute took place at the residence and someone was shot.â
According to law enforcement officials, they immediately ârendered aidâ to T-Hood, who was not publicly identified in the statement.
âGwinnett County Fire Rescue transported the man to a local area hospital where he ultimately passed away from the injuries sustained,â the statement continued. âOne person was detained at the shooting location and is in the process of being interviewed by detectives.â
Gwinnett County PD officials are currently investigating T-Hoodâs death as a homicide.
âThe motive for the shooting is still under investigation,â the note concluded. âThe identity of the victim will be released following next-of-kin notification. There is no active threat to the public.â
T-Hoodâs family members confirmed the musicianâs identity to Atlantaâs Channel 2 Action News, which had reporters on the scene in T-Hoodâs neighborhood on Friday.
T-Hood was best known as a rapper, releasing songs such as âReady 2 Go,â âPerculator,â âGirls in the Partyâ and âBig Bootyâ with B.o.B.
âI definitely turn down a lot of offers and s*** âcuz I really be doing the same numbers [when] Iâm outside by myself,â T-Hood said in a 2020 interview with DGB Media, reflecting on his independence in the music industry. âThatâs definitely situational. I encourage a lot of artists to stay independent, get some management deals or something. I feel like labels donât be knowing [sic] whatâs going on.â
According to T-Hood, âthe internet is controllingâ the music industry.
â[Labels] donât have control of it,â he explained. âTheyâre not making this, you know what Iâm saying? The kids [are] making this s*** happen. Therefore, we donât want to just [be] making a game at it.â
T-Hood also stressed that he didnât want to âoweâ any record labels a piece of his career, and that his happiness was the most important.
âI was always told [to] love what you do,â he said. âPut your all in that s***. ⊠You gotta be happy with what you got.â
