Undeniably, we are living in one of the best eras of death metal in its nearly 40-year history. The latest class is cementing their status as future heavyweights, slotting nicely alongside veterans who don’t know the concept of a late-career slump.

Death metal has always been self-sustaining with the legacy acts bringing the youth along for the ride, exposing them to legions of diehards, even if they’re not filling up arenas like other corners of metal.
