Directed by Renny Harlin, the film follows Maya (Madelaine Petsch) as she faces the masked killers in a final confrontation.

William Bibbiani (TheWrap) wrote, “They say ‘If it ain’t broke don’t fix it,’ and they didn’t. They just broke it, seemingly on purpose.” Erik Piepenburg (The New York Times) described Maya as “a shapeless, cookie-cutter final girl — apropos for this hapless finale, girl.”

David Robb (Slant Magazine) rated the film 1 out of 4, noting, “It’s easy to imagine the nihilistic avenues that Chapter 3 could have gone down.” Matt Donato (Inverse) stated, “It’s so bad that Bertino should be able to sue for damages to The Strangers’ reputation.”
