Adam Cole faced his former best friend, MJF, for the Dynamite Diamond Ring at AEW Worlds End this past weekend. Their rivalry has evolved dramatically over the past year.
At AEW Worlds End last year, Adam Cole shocked fans by revealing himself as the Devil and turning heel alongside his new faction Undisputed Kingdom. MJF took time off, after Cole turned on him, to recover from an injury. He returned at Double or Nothing, surprisingly his heel persona.
Adam Cole who was also out with an injury embraced a babyface role. In October, he reignited his feud with MJF when he returned to AEW WrestleDream. Despite his efforts, Cole could not secure a match against MJF at Full Gear 2024. Instead, his Undisputed Kingdom teammate, Roderick Strong, stepped up but failed to defeat MJF at Full Gear in November.
Determined to face MJF, Adam Cole won the AEW Dynamite Dozen Battle Royale. Following the win, he also defeated Kyle O’Reilly at AEW Dynamite Winter Is Coming a few weeks ago. At AEW Worlds End, Cole finally got his match but suffered a shocking defeat.
In the final moments of the match, MJF distracted the referee and orchestrated the removal of Adam Cole’s teammates, Matt Taven and Mike Bennett, from ringside. MJF then grabbed the Dynamite Diamond Ring, intending to use it on Cole. However, the latter intercepted him with a superkick.
Despite this, MJF countered with a low blow, followed by a Heatseeker, to secure the victory. Although Cole could not overcome MJF, he remains focused on his ultimate goal. Ahead of AEW Worlds End, Cole revealed his plan to become the AEW World Champion in 2025.
Adam Cole reveals his sights are set on the AEW World title
In an interview with “Going Ringside” ahead of his match against MJF, Adam Cole shared his primary goal for 2025. He revealed his ambition to become the AEW World Champion, emphasizing that it has been a dream since he joined the promotion.
He stated, “Once I’m done and finished with Maxwell Jacob Friedman, I really mean this, I’ve had this goal since I started in AEW, and it will be my goal into 2025. I want to become the AEW World Champion.” Although Cole fell short in defeating his former friend MJF this past weekend at Worlds End, it will be interesting to see what comes next for him.
