A 7th Heaven reboot is officially in the works at CBS Studios, according to a new report from Variety.
What do we know about the 7th Heaven reboot?
According to the report, Anthony Sparks will be heading up the series as both executive producer and showrunner. Jessica Biel — who starred in the original series as Mary Camden — will also be attached as an executive producer, under her Iron Ocean banner.
Variety’s report notes that the show will focus on a new, diverse family, and that none of the original cast members from the series will appear. The project is also described as being in the “very early” stages of development, so pretty much any details regarding the show are still mostly up in the air as of now.
Originally premiering in 1996, 7th Heaven followed the story of a minister living in the fictional town of Glen Oak, California, his wife, and their seven children. The series ran for 11 seasons, and was one of The CW‘s first major successes, alongside Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dawson’s Creek.
The original series starred Stephen Collins, Catherine Hicks, Barry Watson, David Gallagher, Biel, Beverley Mitchell, Mackenzie Rosman, and more.
