In the wake of last year’s box office hit Evil Dead Rise, the franchise is getting set to expand with TWO new movies, one of which is being directed by Sébastien Vaniček (Infested).
Taking to Instagram this afternoon, Vaniček has announced that his Evil Dead movie is officially titled Evil Dead Burn, and he teases in the photo’s caption that it’ll be unleashed in 2026.
Based on The Evil Dead by Sam Raimi, Evil Dead Burn is being directed by Sébastien Vaniček, who co-wrote the screenplay with Florent Bernard. Check out the script’s cover page below.
French filmmaker Vaniček is fresh off his feature debut Infested (Vermines), which very much feels like Evil Dead Rise… with spiders. It’s no secret why he landed the gig, to say the least!
“I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested,” Vaniček told Konbini, speaking about his Evil Dead project. “I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career and I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!”
Ghost House Pictures also recently hired Francis Galluppi (The Last Stop in Yuma County) to write and direct yet another brand new Evil Dead movie, which doesn’t yet have a title.
Deadline noted, “The project is described as an original story that Galluppi developed and brought to Raimi and team. No word on a plot or who will be producing, as it’s early days here.”
The new course for the Evil Dead franchise is for Sam Raimi to hand select hot up-and-coming filmmakers to put their own spin on the Deadites, which has been working exceedingly well for the bloody saga. Fede Alvarez directed his own take on the original classic in 2013, which paved the way for Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise last year – 10 years after the remake came out.
Stay tuned for more on Evil Dead Burn – and Galluppi’s movie – as we learn it.
