Hundreds of Beavers Comedy Begins Theatrical Tour Across North America

The anarchic slapstick epic Hundreds of Beavers is set to bring its unique brand of surreal winter comedy to theaters across North America, following critical acclaim and cult success on the global film festival circuit over the past year.

Fresh off its riotous world premiere at Fantastic Fest 2022, the little indie film that could has emerged as one of the most buzzed-about and beloved discoveries of the festival scene. Now after conquering cities from Austin to Amsterdam, Hundreds of Beavers is ready to unleash its signature blend of frostbitten lunacy upon audiences across the U.S. and Canada.

Kicking off the theatrical rollout is a special Great Lakes Roadshow that will see the movie’s cast and crew pile into an RV and traverse a circuit around the, well, Great Lakes. These rowdy screenings and events will take place throughout January and February in cities like Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Buffalo, and Toronto. Each stop promises not just a screening, but a one-of-a-kind experience including live performances, giveaways, and raucous Q&As with special guests. It’s sure to be a wild ride.

After thawing out from the roadshow, Hundreds of Beavers will continue its theatrical run with engagements from coast to coast. Moviegoers in major markets like New York City, Los Angeles, and Atlanta will get the chance to catch the film on the big screen, along with residents of smaller cities as the movie rolls through additional theaters in March and April.

So what exactly has audiences buzzing about this little film out of the frozen tundra of Wisconsin? Hundreds of Beavers tells the story of a courageous hero battling the elements and bizarre obstacles in a surreal, blizzard-swept wonderland that one reviewer described as “existing at the crossroads of Looney Tunes, Benny Hill, Cannibal: The Musical, Blazing Saddles, and Adult Swim mindsets.”

peppered with slapstick comedy, expertly choreographed chaos, and more fake blood than you can shake a severed limb at, Hundreds of Beavers takes viewers on a wild winter ride that must be seen to be believed.

Bringing this cracked vision to life is director Mike Cheslik, making his feature debut after cutting his teeth on music videos and commercials, along with actor Ryland Brickson Cole Tews. The duo previously collaborated on the cult horror comedy Lake Michigan Monster, which has garnered a devoted following on the festival circuit.

Reuniting his team of Wisconsin-based filmmaking misfits, Cheslik has created something wholly original and gleefully unhinged with Hundreds of Beavers – a film that defies logic, genre and sometimes even basic comprehension. Yet critics and audiences around the globe have embraced the movie’s singular brand of frostbitten insanity.

The film currently holds a rare 100% Fresh rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising Hundreds of Beavers as “very good – see it with friends,” proclaiming it “further proof that Wisconsin produces the strangest independent movies in the country,” and declaring it “the most gut-busting time you have at the movies this year.”

Festivalgoers seem to agree. Beyond critical acclaim, Hundreds of Beavers has taken home jury and audience awards at festivals ranging from Fantaspoa in Brazil to the Capital City Film Festival in Michigan.

Clearly this small, snowbound comedy has made a mammoth impression wherever it travels. Now with a North American theatrical rollout underway, the Hundreds of Beavers team is ready to unleash their off-kilter winter adventure to the masses.

Will you be one of the lucky hundreds to catch this frostbitten phenom when it slides into a theater near you?
