ColourPop is back collaborating with the Twilight Saga for a third time, taking inspiration from the third installment of the saga, Eclipse.
The full collection includes seven total products, with two sets available to shop on the brand’s website now. Pricing on products like a 15 pan eyeshadow palette, lipstick and lip liner duos and more ranges from $95 for the full collection to $10 for a single jelly shadow. The product color scheme is grungy and gothic with vampy red hues thrown in here and there to mimic the look of blood, obviously. Product formulas are inventive with jelly-like textures and new finishes from the sole palette, namely the metallic chrome finish that packs a punch. ColourPop has also bundled a bunch of the products, giving prospective buyers the option to buy multiple products for one neat little price.
Upon its release, the first Twilight film, simply titled Twilight, wasn’t the major blockbuster success as it predecessors. It took time for audiences to appreciate the indie magic playing out on screen. Once the heat was on, however, the film and its sequels were a massive hit, launching the careers of many now-superstar actors, including Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. The film and its sequels played a crucial role in the importance of music in film.
The Twilight: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack included a handful of originals from bands such as Paramore, along with carefully curated tracks that spoke to the film’s themes and mood. The film more or less treated the music as a character, informing storytelling and investing us in the characters. The first film’s soundtrack debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and it is still beloved to this day. Following the film’s soundtrack success, other big names would feature on soundtracks for the sequels, including Florence + The Machine, Death Cab for Cutie and Bruno Mars.
With so much to look at, we’re going to be taking you through our favorites from the collection, talking formulas, price points and sharing how to use each product in-depth. Keep reading to shop our favorites from the ColourPop x Twilight Saga Eclipse collection.
ColourPop’s eyeshadow formula is renowned for its pigment and buttery blend. This 15 pan Eclipse palette for $25 is no exception, featuring five finishes, including the aforementioned new metallic chrome, along with mattes, metallics, super shock (the brand’s patented shiny shadows) and pearlescent glitters. The shadow’s hues are deep and dark, with neutral transition shades and unique glittering pinks, red and silvers in the mix.
It’s a color story that we usually don’t see from most commercial brands because of its depth and presumed lack of wearability, but these colors are extremely wearable when utilized correctly. While there are some head-turning hues, the majority of the palette can be utilized to create an everyday eye, albeit a grungy one. Every shadow has a high pigment payoff and blends seamlessly according to ColourPop. The formula is vegan and long-lasting.
Another favorite of ours is the Newborn Eclipse Matte Liquid Lipstick for $12, a formula and color payoff that mimics the look of lips stained with blood. The liquid lipstick features a powder-to-cream formula that, as the name suggests, changes from powder to a creamy texture with the heat of the user’s skin as they apply. ColourPop claims that, unlike your average liquid lip formula, this themed lipstick is hydrating and doesn’t settle into the lines of your lips. The color can be built upon to create a darker effect, turning a bloody shade into an almost burgundy eggplant hue.
To go along with the lippie, ColourPop also dropped their Eclipse Lip Liner & Lipstick Set in New Love for $16, inspired by the iconic duo from the film franchise, Alice and Jasper Cullen. The set comes with a lip liner and a coordinating lipstick. The lipstick is a mauve taupe hue, while the liner is a deep eggplant that provides depth when applied with the lipstick. The colors are deathly and grungy, mirroring the vampiric characters they were inspired by. Both the lipstick and accompanying liner are creamy, gliding on without dragging or skipping. This is another product that we can see people using every day for a pop of color, something different from your average neutral or pinky tones.
