Someone is coming to the defense of Ashley Tisdale’s former mom group! And it’s not one of their husbands this time!
The 40-year-old actress made headlines this week after The Cut dropped an article about her dumping her “toxic” mom friends. Ashley did not name names, but fans quickly determined she dragged her mom group, which included Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, and Meghan Trainor. Now, one person familiar with the mom group is defending them!

Willa Ford, a singer-songwriter best known for her 2001 track I Wanna Be Bad, is not part of the mom group, but she is friends with a few members! And according to the songstress, they are not bullies! In an interview with Page Six Radio, she revealed she is “dear friends” with Kelsey and Janice. They’re believed to be a part of the mom group, as they’ve been photographed hanging out with Ashley, Meghan, Hilary, and Mandy over the years.
Despite the High School Musical alum’s allegations about the friend group, Willa insisted that those two women don’t deserve any hate coming their way after the viral essay:
“Kelsey and Janice are ride or dies. I went through a divorce. These were women who were by my side, who are wonderful humans just in general, not just in the business. My girlfriends didn’t deserve this. They’re not actresses. Their faces didn’t deserve to be plastered.”
Willa shared that she has met Ashley and thinks she is “so lovely.” Some would say otherwise! The musician even said everyone in the group has been “wonderful” toward her, so she doesn’t understand how it all fell apart:
“Everybody has always been nice to me and wonderful to me, so I don’t know what happened [in the group]. Mean things can happen. We can also make mistakes as people. Feeling left out is a real feeling. It’s crap. We all know that.”
One thing she does know? Her besties, Kelsey and Janice, are not mean girls:
“But I don’t know what happened and I do know two of those women really well and I know that bullying is not in their DNA.”
FWIW, Ashley follows both Janice and Kelsey on Instagram. Perhaps the Picture This star doesn’t have any issues with them. Maybe it is between her, Hilary, and Mandy, as sources previously claimed. Ultimately, Willa feels “it would’ve been nice if the communication maybe could have been done differently,” but does think the mom group drama will “resolve itself” despite all the public attention.
