Last month, Lady Gaga announced that the lead single of her forthcoming album will drop off in the coming month. She took to Instagram to share her schedule for a press run for the latest movie, Joker: Folie à Deux. Moreover, she also hinted at the potential release date of her single in the same post, mentioning “XX October: LG7 first single.”
Recently, she confirmed the final name of her single and release date with an art cover that shows her leaning on a white car with her head down. The road is calligraphically inscribed with the word “DISEASE.” The art also features release dates and times for multiple cities across the US, Europe, Asia, and the UK.
Lady Gaga, who recently portrayed Harleen Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn, in Joker: Folie à Deux, startled fans by releasing the ‘Harlequin’ album ahead of the movie’s release. The album featured stellar singles, including Good Morning, Get Happy, That’s Entertainment, Smile, and more.
In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, the ‘Bloody Mary’ songstress elaborated on how her character’s duality inspired her music-making for Harlequin.
“The film had so much music in it, so much music that I love, and I was able to discover the character through the story, through the music that we did live every day as well as dance and the costumes and the makeup. So I kind of had this deep experience with the character and she just didn’t really leave me creatively and I decided I wanted to make a whole album inspired by her,” she further added.
